PRESS RELEASES

African Leaders State of Africa Report 2007 Released by American Research Center.

February 8, 2008

President Festus Mogae is one of 15 African leaders represented in Boston University’s African Leaders State of Africa Report 2007.  Featuring the visions and strategies of African heads of state, the report is designed to increase awareness of successful democratic and economic growth and development initiatives on the continent.

The Honorable Charles R. Stith, director of the African Presidential Archives and Research Center at Boston University (APARC) and former U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania, is traveling to eight African nations in conjunction with the report in order to hold strategic meetings with current and former heads of state and directors of major private, public and non-governmental organizations.

He will release the report in Botswana on Thursday, February 14 at 14:00 at the Cresta Lodge in Gaborone.

This year, besides Botswana, the other participating African countries include: Benin, Cape Verde, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The African Presidential Archives and Research Center (APARC) at Boston University is a resource for fostering efforts at free-market reform and democratization in Africa.  A repository for the papers of former and current African leaders, it offers a residency program for former democratically elected heads of state and hosts an annual African Presidential Roundtable in April.

The African Leaders State of Africa Report is one of APARC’s core projects and provides select African leaders a forum to address the world about the goals, programs and policies of their respective countries.  This is the sixth edition of the Report; it was jointly funded by Coca-Cola Africa and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
