Public Announcements

The Department of State maintains information on travel in all countries of the world and periodically issues Travel Warnings and Public Announcements as necessary for countries or regions that are of particular concern for U.S. citizen travelers. The Department of State maintains current information on its website, listed below. All travelers are advised to consult the site before traveling.

BOTSWANA

Caution: The Regional Security Officer at the embassy has deemed Kgale Hill and the area north of the Gaborone Dam as off limits for official Americans because of multiple incidents of crime and personal security threats. U.S. citizens in Gaborone are also advised to avoid these areas.
